Adjusting the headset to see VR experiences more clearly

Table of Contents

Adjusting IPD (Interpupillary Distance)

IPD is the distance between pupils, measured in millimetres. The IPD dial on the headset adjusts the distance between lenses, to match the user’s IPD and provide a comfortable experience.

Setting the headset IPD correctly will help make the image appear clearer and reduce eye strain.

Misaligned IPD or improperly adjusted headsets can cause blurry images, dizziness, and eye strain.

To increase the distance between the lenses, rotate the IPD dial clockwise. To decrease, rotate the IPD dial anticlockwise.

For tips on adjusting IPD review the Lumination Learning Lab quickstart guide, or visit the HTC Vive support webpage for more information about IPD.

Adjusting the lens distance using the Lens Extender

By holding down the lens extender button, you can increase or decrease the distance of the lens from your eyes. Not only will this allow for wearing the headset over glasses, but decreasing this distance can assist in getting a clearer picture.

For tips on adjusting lens distance review the Lumination Learning Lab quickstart guide, or visit the HTC Vive support webpage for more information about wearing a headset with glasses.
