What is Fast Boot?
Fast Boot is a feature on the Android devices that IT technicians and developers access to a device’s flash memory, so that they can perform tasks such as reinstalling the operating system among other things. It can sometimes appear if the power and volume down buttons are simultaneously pressed when turning on the device and will show the below screen:

Step 1: Force restart
- Press and hold the power button for 12 seconds to force shutdown the device.
- Let go of the power button, then press the power button to start up the device.
Step 2: Boot to recovery mode
- Press and hold the power button for 12 seconds to force shutdown the device.
- Let go of the power button, then press and hold the power and volume up buttons until the device powers on.
- When you see the MIUI logo, let go of the power button but keep holding the volume up button until you see the following screen:

- To use this menu, press the volume up and down buttons to navigate through the menu, and the power button to select the option that is highlighted in blue.
- Once the reboot button is highlighted, select it to reboot the device.
Step 3: Drain the battery
- Leave the device to run out of battery whilst it is displaying the ‘Fast Boot’ screen. It may take some time to power off fully if it has been left on charge for some time.
- Check that the device has been fully drained of power by trying to turn it on.
- Once confirmed that it will not turn on at all, you may begin recharging the device.
- Press the power button after 5 minutes to confirm that the device is receiving charge.
- Once fully charged, power on the device.
If your device still will not boot up to the main screen, please submit a technical support request.
