Android phone won’t turn on

Table of Contents

Step 1: Ensure the device is charging

  • Connect the handset to charge cable and wait at least five minutes, ensuring that the charge cable sits firm in the charging slot.
  • Press the power button once and you should hopefully see a battery symbol. If the device is low charge, leave it a little while longer before powering it on.
  • If the device still won’t power on, check that there isn’t any dust or lint in the charger slot or try a different charge cable. If it still won’t turn on, continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Force restart the device

  • Hold down the volume up, volume down and power buttons for at least 12 seconds.
  • The screens backlight should light up and the phone will display a brand splash screen before continuing to power on.
  • If holding down the buttons doesn’t do anything after 12 seconds, let go and wait a moment before pressing the power button once.
  • If the device still won’t turn on after pressing the power button, wait another 10 seconds and then hold down the power button and the volume up for 12 seconds.
