Preparing videos and photos for use with the LeadMe VR Player
Prerequisite
Make sure your files are downloaded locally on all Leader and Learner devices.
If you are producing your own VR content, a great way to view it is by using the LeadMe VR Player.
Process
To use the LeadMe VR Player with your own files, they must be:
- downloaded locally on all Leader and Learner devices
- named the same thing on all devices
- under the VR Player size limit
Current (v1.22 onwards)
As of v1.22, File Transfer is no longer built into the LeadMe Android app. Instead, we recommend you transfer files using Google Drive or a similar cloud-based file sharing system.
Using Google Drive to transfer files:
- Upload your videos and photos to a folder on Google Drive
- Share the Google Drive folder with the account that your VR/AR Education Kit devices are connected to (typically your provided @gafe.com.au account)
- On each device in your kit, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Drive app, then tap Shared at the bottom of the screen
- Find the folder containing your videos and photos
- Tap the three dot icon under each file, then select Download to save them to your device
- Repeat for each photo and video

Legacy (v1.21 and earlier)
You can use the File Transfer feature before you use the devices in a session, and the the videos will remain on the devices for all future sessions.
This is useful as it means that you won’t have multiple devices playing YouTube at the same time, which could potentially slow down your WiFi network. YouTube load times can vary when a video is pushed to the Learner devices, with videos opening in different states or not finishing at the same time. Using the LeadMe VR Player means you won’t run into this issue as the content will be loaded locally to each of the devices.
To use File Transfer follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the file you wish to transfer is on the Leader device
2. Ensure that all of the devices are on the same WiFi network
3. Login as a Leader, then connect all Learner devices that you would like to transfer the file to
5. On the Leader device, ensure that file transfer has been enabled by opening the hamburger menu in the top right
6. On the Leader device, select the connected Learners that you would like to transfer the file to by tapping on each of them
7. On the Leader device, select ‘File Transfer’
8. On the Leader device, use the file explorer that opens up to find the file you wish to transfer
9. Wait while all of the Learners receive the file (you will see either ‘waiting to receive’ or a progress bar on the learners device)
You can then use the VR Player to select the video when ready. You might need to change the projection type on the Leader’s device once the video has been selected as different 360 cameras record in different projection types. You can do this using the drop down.
