Slide 3 – Any sites who own a Lumiation Learning Lab will have full access to our Lumination Education Centre for their employees to utilise. Please take a moment now to register yourself an account by following the link provided: lms.lumination.com.au. From here, you will need to wait for  approval, before being able to log in and utilise our resources. Please allow up to 48 hours for approval, or email our Lumination educator to notify them of any new staff member at your site awaiting access.

Once logged in, under Resources, you can find many different types of resources that you can filter your search by. The original resource that we use to create is known as ‘Lesson Plan Packages’. These were our old model of resources, very thorough, they included teacher PowerPoints and student Digital Notebooks. The feedback we received from teachers indicated that these documents were too large to consume, and therefore not being used. Instead, we’ve started producing Essential Guides and Lesson Bytes, which we will look into now.

Slide 4 – The Essentials Guides are perfect for teachers and students diving into an IMVR experience for the first time. They include any information you may need to know about utilising or navigating the experience, and a controller guide diagram that can be distributed amongst students for their reference. These guides also include a Google Deck that’s designed to be assigned to students in your class when introducing this experience to them. Activities in the deck are meant to be completed independently and should require little teacher intervention, so the class teacher can focus on rotating and supporting students in the IMVR experience. Take some time now to filter our resources to Essential Guides on your laptop, and browse the experiences that are available. Although we hope to have one Essential Guide per experience, we currently write these upon request. So if there is an IMVR app you’d like to use with your class, and an Essential Guide does not exist, please contact your Learning Designer and allow a minimum of 2 weeks for its creation.

Slide 5 – Lesson Bytes are concise lesson suggestions that accompany our Essential Guides. These mini-lessons span a variety of subjects and year levels. Although they don’t directly quote the Australian Curriculum (or other curriculums used in Australia), they have all been written against a particular achievement standard in the curriculum. Each byte includes the suggested year level and subject area, an introduction to help you decide if the lesson is suitable, lesson objectives, any resource you may need to run the session, and a list of considerations before you begin the lesson. In the green ‘During’ section, we recommend 3 to 4 stations for the lesson. Teachers are more than welcome to only run 1-2 stations or use these as inspiration to create their own station ideas. We’ve often written our Bytes based on requests, so if you have a great lesson suggestion, let us know and we will work to publish your lesson idea soon!

Slide 6 – The third type of resource you will find on our website are called Resource Decks. We have a Resource Deck available on our LEC for all the main learning areas! These resources are a live document that we will continue to add to as time goes on. In the past, educators would email us, requesting resources for a topic they are about to teach, and we would reply back with suitable links. We have now collated all previous resources that we have suggested to our users and compiled them in this one deck. Staff are encouraged to initially check these decks when in need of a particular resource, alongside our lesson bytes, before contacting a Learning Designer at Lumination.

Slide 7 – Our webinars and tutorials cover a range of different topics and technologies. Any webinars held within a term will be recorded and posted on the LEC for staff who couldn’t attend the session. These resources are great to be assigned to other staff at a Lumination School who have not received the formal training but would like an introduction to the technology available.
